Ronile Lawrence was born in Bronxville, New York and was educated at the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. 1968), the University of Cincinnati College of Law (J.D. 1978) and Syracuse University College of Law (1977-1978).  She was admitted to the New York State Bar and U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York in 1979.

Ronile has practiced law for over 27 years.  She has been engaged in general civil practice as a solo-practitioner and as a partner in the firm of  Lawrence & Granger in Syracuse, New York where her practice concentrated in the areas of Family and Matrimonial Law, including litigation of complex matrimonial matters. She has lectured on Family Law topics at Syracuse University College of Law, the Onondaga County Bar Association and the Law Guardian Panel of the Appellate Division.

Since moving to Hamilton County, Ronile has served as Attorney for the Village of Speculator, Assistant County Attorney for Hamilton County, and Chair of the Town of Lake Pleasant Zoning Board of Appeals. Her practice now concentrates in the areas of Real Estate, Trusts and Estates, Zoning and General Corporate matters. Ronile continues to serve as a Law Guardian, representing children in Family Court, an area of interest throughout her professional career.   

Ronile volunteers as a panel member of the Surrogate Decision Making Committee program which provides informed consent for disabled persons in need of medical services. She is a former member of Speculator Volunteer Ambulance Corps and is currently a member of the New York State Bar Association, Hamilton County Magistrates Association, the Lake Pleasant-Sacandaga Association and serves as the warden of the vestry for the St. Hubert’s of the Lakes Episcopal Church.

Katie M. Smith was born in Denver, Colorado.  She was educated at the University of Northern Colorado (B.A. 2001) and Albany Law School of Union University (J.D. 2004).  Katie was admitted to the New York and Colorado State bars in 2005. 

While attending law school, Katie gained experience in the public sector while interning at the United States Attorney’s Office in Colorado and at the New York State Attorney General’s Office.   She learned about trial court practice in New York State as a judicial intern for the Honorable Justice Joseph Teresi of the New York State Supreme Court. 

Katie was involved in a number of activities in law school.  She was the Executive Editor for the Albany Law Environmental Outlook Journal and she placed in the Donna Jo Morse Negotiations and Client Counseling Competitions. 

Before settling in New York with her young daughter and husband she practiced in the area of commercial litigation in Denver, Colorado.

Katie is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Hamilton County Magistrates Association, Lake Pleasant-Sacandaga Association and the Pleasant Riders Snowmobilers, Inc.
